Why Fruitvale Road sounds like this

A wooden marimba bounces along over a walking bass, then someone takes a crisp bite of an apple. Fruitvale sits on the edge of the orchard belt that once covered West Auckland, around Glen Eden and Oratia. The trees are long gone, but the name still carries the fruit, and the bite is for it.

Inside the chime

Fruitvale Road's chime runs about 4 seconds, in two parts. Every station's chime ends on its family's signature, so you can tell roughly where you are by ear.
