Why Homai sounds like this
Dry tones with sharp starts and wide leaps between them, climbing and then settling on a long note. Homai is home to the national campus for blind and low-vision students. So this is the clearest chime on the network, built to be easy to pick out over a noisy platform.
Inside the chime
Homai's chime runs about 3 seconds, in two parts. Every station's chime ends on its family's signature, so you can tell roughly where you are by ear.

Homai's own motif 2.5 s
Five clear, widely spaced tones. No other station plays it.
- 2
The South family's brass 0.8 s
A short brass note, then a longer one a fourth higher. With 21 stations, Grafton and Parnell down to Pukekohe and Manukau, it is the largest family.
