Why Manurewa sounds like this
Two bellbirds trade short phrases over a light breeze, one on each side, then one climbs higher to finish. The Auckland Botanic Gardens are a 20-minute walk up Hill Road, with native bush planted among their collections. The bellbird, korimako, is the voice that bush should have, calling from either side as if you were walking through it.
Inside the chime
Manurewa's chime runs about 4 seconds, in two parts. Every station's chime ends on its family's signature, so you can tell roughly where you are by ear.
